Housing Strategy?

There is alot about the Whangarei District Council Housing Strategy Plan that is of concern:

Council allocated $150,000 for the development of a WDC Housing Strategy Plan.

Decisions are being made by individuals not conversant in the establishment of papakainga, etc.

This is what I'm seeing. Most of the public are excluded from any decision making including Maori. A small group represent hapu - but many of us won't be given a chance to say how we really feel.

Council are required to work with central govt - to effect change and responsiveness.

In short, this review didn't need any additional funding to be carried out - as alot of research material is readily available online - and Council already has its own mechanisms in place to connect with the community and Govt agencies, and more.
