Reinstate Marsden Pt Oil Refinery
The Oil Refinery is the only one in New Zealand. We need a back up if imports can’t get through. No backup - no fuel for emergency services, food deliveries, etc. Want better roading? The Refinery produced quality bitumonous products. Now it’s been decommissioned - we are relying on imports for that too.
Fiona Green is the only Candidate (Mayoral and Councillor Whangarei Urban) who has spent the most time with the ‘Dig-in at Marsden Pt Group.’ They have been there since Easter 2022 - more than 100 days as at Thurs 4 August 2022. Mainstays Brad, Rob, Kiwi, Sue, Pete, and regulars Renee and her Mum, Katie and her partner, and so many more. They have taught me all that I know as Brad and others have built strong relationships with Senior Operators and Engineers who used to work at Marsden Point Oil Refinery.’
Green says she has spoken informally with civil, electrical, chemical, mechanical engineers. ‘I don't agree with the way Channel Infrastructure has managed what I consider to be the New Zealand's most disastrous business decision in New Zealand's Commercial and Economic Development History. Ever. I don't believe shareholders were given all the information required to make an informed decusion where the Refinery has now been decommisioned.’
Meet the brave men and women who started the Dig-in at Marsden - Reinstate the Refinery April 2022. Brad, Rob, Pete, Kiwi, Sue, and everyone else. www.securemarsdenrefinery.nz
